About the French culture : The Christmas Market in Lyon

Each year, the Christmas market is taking place in Lyon in Place Carnot, in the 2nd arrondissement, a month of illuminations in Christmas colours. Located next to Perrache station, the place turns into a Christmas village and will be illuminated and decorated to make dreaming everybody for a while.

This year from November 22 to December 24, many exhibitors will make you taste the sweetness of Christmas and animate the market.

This market is primarily a place where the expertise and talents of producers and artisans are highlighted. It is also the ideal place to find great gift ideas, or just have fun at smelling and tasting products.

It will be more than 140 chalets that will offer local and French specialties such as mulled wine, pretzels, crepes and gingerbread. You can, in addition, discover many Christmas decorations for Christmas trees, original gifts (necklaces, retro jewellery, accessories, etc.), many wooden toys, stuffed animals and puzzles. Local products of the season will also be present: jams, chestnuts, candied chestnuts, honey, “foie gras” and wine.

The Christmas market is also a good way to discover the exotic flavours of the partner countries. This year, Russia, Poland, Canada and Italy will be honoured.

The Christmas market of Croix-Rousse (Place de la Croix-Rousse) will also be present with a Christmas Farm, many events and always seasonal specialties to taste. This market is open from December 4 to December 24, 2013.

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December 2013, the district of Croix-Rousse offers a Christmas market on Art. The designers and craftsmen will welcome you on Place Sathonay to discover their collections.
