TEF Canada and French Resident Card

TEF (French Evaluation Test) is an instrument of international standard used to assess the level of French of non-Francophones. The test is designed, distributed and administered by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris. Inflexyon French examination centre in Lyon holds approximately one TEF exam session each month.

There are several versions of TEF French test :

TEF Naturalisation

TEF Naturalisation is composed of:

– Oral Expression;

– Oral comprehension.

TEF Naturalisation is a simplified version of TEF for those who need a French certificate to apply for a French nationality. It is required to obtain at least B1 level, otherwise your certificate will be refused by the Préfécture. The Préfécture also accepts other French certificates or diplomas certifying at least B1 level such as DELF, DALF or TCF. If you need a certificate of French language to apply for a French nationality, Inflexyon organises DELF, DALF and TCF ANF exams in Lyon every month.

 

TEF “Etudes” 

TEF “Etudes” is composed of 4 parts:

– Oral Comprehension

– Written Comprehension

– Written Expression

– Vocabulary and Syntax

TEF “Etudes” is a French language test for the international students willing to enrol in a francophone university in France or in other countries. Universities usually require at least B2 level, but it might vary according to the program and the level of the studies. There are other similar exams that are usually accepted by French speaking universities : DELF, DALF, TCF Tout public. If you wish to study at University in France or elsewhere in the world and you need to prove your French level, Inflexyon French school in Lyon holds DELF, DALF and TCF Tout Public exams every month. If your French is not good enough yet to pass the test, you can improve your French and prepare for French exams with our French courses program.

 

TEF “Carte de résident”

TEF “Carte de résident” is composed of 4 parts:

– Oral Comprehension

– Oral Expression

– Written Comprehension

– Written Expression

Since 2018, anyone under the age of 65 applying for the first time for a 10-year residence permit (resident card) must have a certified level of French equivalent to level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This applies to each of the four language skills (written and oral comprehension, written and oral production). Therefore, Inflexyon holds each year approximately 10 sessions of TEF  “Carte de résident’ in Lyon. The TEF “Carte de résident” results are valid for two years. Before applying and to prepare for the test, please refer to the applicant’s TEF Resident Card Handbook.

TEF Canada 

TEF Canada is composed of 4 parts:

– Oral Comprehension

– Oral Expression

– Written Comprehension

– Written Expression

If you would like to move to Canada and you need to apply for a visa, you might need to pass a French language test. TEF Canada is specially designed for this purpose and can enable you to get up to 24 points for your French language skills. It is usually not obligatory to sit all the 4 parts, but it is strongly recommended. All the parts should be taken on the same day. Inflexyon French examination centre in Lyon holds approximately 5 TEF Canada sessions per year. If the dates of our sessions are not convenient for you, on-request TEF Canada session can be organised for you.

TEF for Quebec (TEFAQ)

TEFAQ is composed of 4 parts:

– Oral Comprehension

– Oral Expression

– Writing Comprehension

– Writing Expression

If you want to move to Quebec and you need to obtain a visa, you might need to pass a French test to get some points for your visa application. You can get the points only if your level is equal or superior to B2 level.  Quebec Ministry for Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion (MIDI) accepts the results of TEF Quebec (TEFAQ) but also TEF Canada.
