Inflexyon& Marché de la mode vintage

The word vintage comes from an exceptional wine. So to name a garment “vintage” is to define a “grand cru de la haute couture”. To be worthy it has to:

  • Be at least 20 years of age
  • Be representative of the designer’s own style
  • Be in its original state with no alterations
  • Represent a period in fashion

This year, the Vintage market is held on the weekend of June 11 and 12 with an entrance fee of 3€ with a free collector shopping bag offered to the first 15000 people. Under 15 years old enter for free.

Location: The Fashion Vintage Market takes place on old site of the « marché de gros » (mass market). Enter at the intersection of Rue Vuillerme and cours Charlemagne, a 12 minutes walk from Perrache.

Ice rinks in Lyon

Lyon has two ice rinks: Charlemagne and Baraban

The ice rink Charlemagne is located near the Perrache train station while the Baraban rink is located near the train station La Part-Dieu near. The first rink, Charlemagne, was opened in 1969 after the Olympic Games in Grenoble in 1968, after people have shown interest in skating. Some Olympic figure skating champions, like Gwendal Peizerat and his partner, Marina Anissina used the rink Charlemagne for their performances. The second rink was opened in 1970.

The Opera

The Opera House in Lyon was built in 1831 and is a great landmark in the city center. The immense glass structure which crowns the building was built in 1993 and makes it an impressing building. The Opera House is located just a few blocks from Inflexyon, between the Rhône river and City Hall.

These days you can see a great ballet performance called « One of a kind », showing until February 13th. An upcoming opera performance is « The tender land», showing from 3-14 March. All students get discount on tickets. For more information about the opera.

Christmas vacation in France

No french courses at inflexyon, french language school in france (lyon) during christmas vacation!
No classes to let our students discover french traditions for christmas : On the 24th, french children put their shoes in front of the fireplace, in the hopes that Papa Noël will fill them with gifts, candy, fruit, nuts.
Although fewer and fewer French attend la Messe de Minuit on Christmas Eve, it is still an important part of Christmas for many families. It is followed by a huge feast, called le Réveillon (from the verb réveiller, to wake up or revive). Le Réveillon is a symbolic awakening to the meaning of Christ's birth and is the culinary high point of the season. Each region in France has its own traditional Christmas menu, with dishes like turkey, capon, goose, chicken etc.
Another important aspect of French Christmas celebrations with the christmas tree is the "crèche" filled with santons, which is displayed in churches and many homes.

Our office will be open though, so if you have any question or if you want to enroll for french courses in 2007 contact us at : inflexyon
