Foreign students in france : study french and share our traditions!

Last week-end, French people celebrated the holiday of Epiphany (January 6th) the day when the 3 Kings visited the Baby Jesus. As part of French tradition, a bean or small china feve (favor) is hidden in the cake. The person who finds the feve in his or her slice becomes king or queen for the day. The person can also choose someone to be their king or queen and can lead the traditional dance.
Next week on tuesday, during french classes, Inflexyon will have its own celebration and students will be able to taste the "galette des Rois" while learning new french vocabulary.

Foreign students in france : you are welcome!

Over the last few years, the French authorities have improved how they welcome foreign students.

Here are some possibilities to get grants :

Like French students, foreign students have access to the Fonds de Solidarité Universitaire (FSU) (University Solidarity Funds): contact the social workers of the CROUS.

Technical and scientific research grants are reserved for French students or students from the European Union. However, an exemption is possible for foreign students that have completed their post-graduate studies in France. Candidates must be presented by the professors of the post-graduate cycle. Contact Ministère de la Recherche, Bourses M.E.S.R. - Bureau des Allocations de Recherche (Ministry of Research, M.E.S.R. Grants - Research Allocation Office).

Students holding a registration card of the Office Français de Protection des Réfugiés et des Apatrides (OFPRA) (French Agency for Protection of Refugees and Apatrides), less than 26 years old, with limited family resources, can also request a grant if they continue undergraduate and graduate studies. These grants are allocated according to family status criteria. It is necessary to contact the social registration service of the CROUS.

Grants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs : social status has no influence in the awarding of this Grant from the French Government. Only university results count. Therefore, the results obtained at examinations and the opinions of professors are of prime importance for the renewal of this grant. The conditions to satisfy to be selected depend on the level of the degree you are preparing. The grant must be requested from the cultural and scientific advisors of the embassies or at the French Consulate of your country. Formalities must be completed one year in advance for the initial registration.

Of course, before going to french university you need to study french! Inflexyon can prepare you well with its french courses all year round and help you to choose university and with the whole admission process. Do not hesitate to enroll to our french classes!

Inflexyon in Japan

Mr Duquesne just came back from Japan. He was invited by the mayor of Lyon, Mr Collomb to accompany the delegation of Lyon in Osaka, Kyoto, Yokohama and Tokyo. It was a good opportunity to promote french foreign language schools and french education in general. Let's share this experience.

In Yokohama for instance, we ate with the young mayor of the second biggest city. We had a dinner organized by a well-known chef of lyon, Mr Orsi and the club of Yokohama's chefs to celebrate a 50 year old sistership.
