One of the largest and finest urban parks in France is the Parc de la Tete d'or in Lyon. Located on the banks of the Rhône, the park covers an area of 105 hectares. According to a legend, a golden head of Christ is buried in the park, thus giving way to the name "Tete d'Or" (head of gold). Since its opening in 1862, the park has remained largely unchanged, with its lakeshore and large paths lined with hundred year old trees. The park has a botanical garden which holds one of the richest collections in Europe and a zoological park with over 1000 animals.

The Parc de la Tete d'Or is open to the public and admission is free. Whether to go for a jog, take a walk, have a picnic, or discover one of the many activities, you'll always find a reason to come and enjoy this wonderful park.
