The French fashion couturier Frank Sorbier is a fervent defender of craft art and art itself.
From March 18th 2009 to September 20th 2009 a dedicated exhibition will be presented at the fabrics museum of Lyon. More than 170 unique dresses are exhibited and will offer a sensory travel beyond time limits.
Original dresses are presented and show the huge talent of this artist. This event has even been awarded the label « Exhibit of National Interest by the « Culture and Communication » Ministry. Ten years of Haute Couture dresses will be exposed.
It is in Lyon – the city famous for its fabrics and silk- that it was decided to organize the exhibition. And the couturier from Paris still has its providers in Lyon when he needs special fabrics such as silk, lace and other types of delicate fabrics.
Some exceptional dresses for the cinema and the theater will also be exposed in addition to the 170 Haute Couture dresses.
The fabrics museum of Lyon receives temporary exhibitions like this one but it also presents during the whole year more than 2 millions of unique fabrics and dresses retracing over 4, 500 years of history of fabrics. Since several years now, it has become a strong center of research on textile.
