If you wish to live in France as an « au pair », you can be placed in a lyonnaise family who will help you. Your main job will be taking care of children and you might be asked to do some light housekeeping. In exchange, not only will you be taken in by a family, you will also receive a salary for your work. Even if you must follow French course, the hours will be reduced to 10 hours weekly, and Wednesdays free to take care of children, also during school vacations.

Special french program for "Au Pair" students : Classes are held weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for a total of 10 hours per week. Første søndag i Januar er Kongenes dag. Det blir sagt at de tre vise menn leverte sine gaver til Jesus denne dagen, og for å feire dette lages kongenes kake, la Galette de Rois.

Kaken er tradisjonelt flat og rund med et mandel/smør fyll. Opprinnelig ble det bakt en bønne inni kaken, men i dag blir det brukt en figur som kalles “la fève.“

“La fève“ kan være alt fra en liten bil til en tegneserie figur. Den som får la fève i sitt kakestykke blir konge eller dronning for en dag. Kongen/dronningen får en gullkrone i papp som må brukes hele dagen. Og den kongelige plikten er å bake eller kjøpe den neste kongenes kake.
