Exhibition "Vegetal Cities"

The artist and architect Luc Schuiten will share with us, until the 27th of June, his vegetal cities. Through this exhibition, the artist reveals 30 years of research and thought put into imagining the different ways to create a harmonious city by 2100. The artist anticipates the possible forms of habitat by using living construction materials in a world constantly destroying its natural resources.
The exhibition takes place over 4000 m2 at the Sucrière of Lyon. Here, the visionary architect imagines Lyon in 2100, immersing his visitors in a green, soft and natural world. This is done through different art medias, original designs, models, animation films and reports.
We discover Lyon seen from the sky, covered by greenery, vegetal roofs and trees climbing up the walls of buildings. We can see the famous « crayon » tower in the Part-Dieu neighborhood but this time, completely unrecognizable.
Vegetal Cities are for the artist « another possibility », he explains that it is not a utopia in the sense of an infeasible dream, but simply something that has never been tried before. To finish we can say that this exhibition has many virtues; it is at the same time entertaining, poetic, educational, and scientific.
