The Gadagne building reopened to visitors on June 2009 after 10 years of important restoration. It now presents 2 distinguish museums: the museum of History of Lyon and the World marionettes museum. Located in the heart of the Vieux Lyon, this building of the Renaissance period is listed on the Unesco World Heritage.
The museum of the History of Lyon:
Presents the city’s major factors of evolution: urbanism, political and social history, economic, cultural, spiritual, and intellectual history. It allows us to understand the past and present environment of Lyon.
The World marionettes museum:
The since 1950 the museum of the marionette is settle in Gadagne. Mainly related to the emblematic marionette of Lyon, Guignol, the collection enriched during the years.
Before the clothing of Gadagne in 2003, the marionette collections were part of the museum of history of Lyon and now they are presented in a distinct museum divided in 9 showrooms.

The 2 museums call upon visitors visual, additive and tactile sensibility with the imagery and sonorous hallways, tactile stands, animated images, films. A friendly and funny way to visit the museum.
The museums propose visits in three languages: French, English and Italian.
