A version of Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” made by Angelin Preljocaj, one of the most original personalities of the contemporary French dance who collaborates regularly with different ballets as the one of the Opera of Paris for which he has created different performances. The choreography displaces the action in an authoritarian east European country and imagines a militia’s confrontation with refugees. Prejlocaj signs a modern and indicative fable that tells the story of Shakespeare: At Capuleto home a crowd hurries happily. At the light of the torches, a young masked man contemplates a young woman fascinated by her beauty: her name is Juliet the only heiress of the Capuleto. They look each other and the passion was born. But Juliet ignores the young man is Romeo, Montaigne’s son, mortal enemy of her descent.
